Ossipee Lake is located in the towns of Ossipee and Freedom in Carroll County. Ossipee covers over 3000 acres with a maximum depth of 73' and an average depth of 27'. It is comprised of the main lake and 4 bays: Leavitt, Broad, Danforth, and Berry. The lake is fed by the West Branch River, Bearcamp River, Lovell River and Pine River. Water leaves the lake at the Ossipee River which flows into the Saco River in Maine.

Oligotrophic: Minimal support for algal blooms, rooted plant growth. Aesthetically, this is the most desirable of the three ratings and is usually the larger or deeper lakes.
Mesotrophic: Moderate support of algal production
Eutrotrophic:High Support of algal production.
